Director/Producer: Born in Seoul and raised in NYC, Woo J Cho grew up watching films in arthouse theaters across the city and the experience instilled within her a deep appreciation of cinema. In a career spanning over two decades, she’s held various leadership positions at a film foundation, a documentary production company and a theatrical distribution company. While at the film foundation, Woo developed innovative ways of supporting artists, addressing systemic breakdowns in the independent film landscape. Woo has participated in Catalyst, Sundance’s financing market, and StepIn, Locarno Film Festival’s think tank for interdisciplinary exchange. She produced Twelve Disciples of Nelson Mandela which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and received an Independent Spirit Award Nomination. Woo is a Sundance New Frontiers Lab and Gotham Film & Media Institute Filmmaker Lab Fellow and is currently directing a feature film about the artist, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha. She is also a meditation practitioner and teacher, and is actively involved in bringing Buddhist meditation practices to Queens and Harlem. Woo has been involved with Princess Grace Foundation since 2006, initially as a film panelist and later joined its Arts Advisory Council in 2016. She currently serves as a Trustee and the Chair of the Council, helping to oversee its Award making process in film, theatre and dance. In all of her practices, she seeks to create a space for connection and community.
Editor: Cindy Yoon is a film and video editor who has worked in feature, documentary, commercial, and short form film projects. Her interest in media began in Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, where she focused on media and international relations. Projects she has contributed to include “Winter’s Bone,” Oscar nominee for Best Picture and winner of the 2010 Sundance Grand Jury Prize, and “Monogamy,” winner of Best New York Narrative at theTribeca Film Festival.
Co-Producer / Assistant Editor: JiYe Kim is an artist and video and film editor based in Brooklyn. She began her career in experimental films, working with Anita Thacher and Barbara Hammer. Since then, she has worked on a range of projects, from narrative films to documentaries to art films. Her most recent editorial and assistant editorial credits include Pachinko, Halston, High Maintenance, The Deuce, and Cerro Rico, Tierra Rita.
