Cha stream is a companion project to the documentary film about Theresa Has Kyung Cha. The idea of the Cha Stream originated as a mode to share fragments of text, memory, artifacts, stories and echos of Cha, and a way of discovering, connecting and engaging with audiences in a more immediate and direct way via Instagram.
It is also an attempt at collective reminiscing of Cha as a form of storytelling and a seemingly futile fight against erasure in the face of a constant, relentless tsunami of content that gets released on Instagram and elsewhere.
Over time audiences will be able to connect, mix and explore a growing and shifting grid of posts about Cha on Instagram. It is also a very fluid, live way of sharing, usually what arises in the stream of consciousness of the director within a few days of sharing.
Finally the hashtags offer a way to reach micro-audiences, and to release and bury Cha posts like seeds in feeds for unsuspecting potential future audiences. So far some of the hashtags we love are #springtimeinkorea #pinksockstribe #crosscountrytrip.
